Product Description - Organic Drumstick (Sedi Murungai) Plant Seeds - Open Pollinated

7The drumstick tree is a significant perennial multipurpose vegetable that is widely cultivated throughout India. Each part of the plant is edible and beneficial, which is why it is dubbed the modern world's 'Miracle Tree.' Without the drumstick, no South Indian Sambar is authentic. Drumstick leaves are employed in every South Indian cuisine to prepare delectable nutritional greens and flavorful curries. The flower buds are often utilized in cooking. Generally, the drumstick tree is a low-maintenance tree that requires little water and fertilizer. It does, however, have a brittle stem, which makes it particularly vulnerable to windy winds.

Planting and care for Drumstick (Sedi Murungai) seeds

Sowing Drumstick (Sedi Murungai) seeds

Growing Drumstick (Sedi Murungai)

  • In Indian circumstances, the plant is simple to grow. It grows quickly and is resilient.
  • Drumstick trees may be grown in a variety of soil conditions.
  • At 75 cm in height, the plants are top trimmed. As a result, the trees become bushy. If necessary, they can be top trimmed again at 4 feet in height.
  • For the first two months, the field should be kept weed-free.

Harvesting Drumstick (Sedi Murungai)

  • Within the first year of seeding, the plant begins to produce drumstick pods.
  • When the plants begin to flower, 3 to 5 drumstick pods are produced per bloom.
  • When the tree has developed, the leaves can be plucked, and the blooms can be clipped if necessary, but only in small amounts because it will affect the drumstick yield.
  • Drumstick pods should be harvested when they are young and 1cm in diameter. The flesh of older pods thickens and turns white.

Precautions while growing Drumstick (Sedi Murungai) plant

  • The plant necessitates an open, sunny location. It will not thrive under the shade of a tree or a structure. Otherwise, there are no significant diseases that damage the Drumstick tree.
  • Your plant may be dying as a result of over-watering. If your soil becomes saturated with water, it creates root rot, which causes drooping of the leaves and finally causes your plant to die.
  • Use of A2 Desi Cow Panchagavya Organic Growth Promoter is highly recommended for more benefits.

Common Problems affecting Drumstick (Sedi Murungai) plants and solutions

Drumstick plants are rarely harmed by Bud worms, Caterpillars, Aphids, or Termites. Drumstick plants are occasionally affected by root rot.

If the soil around your plants is dry, it means that adequate water is not being delivered on a regular basis. If the soil is red and loomy, termites may attack. However, this will only occur at a later stage.

To avoid this, use a bio pest controller for sucking and biting pests.

The plant will become dehydrated and harmed as a result of Root Rot, which is caused by soil. This is most likely to occur if your plants have been subjected to excessive watering.
